About the race
Ontario Summit Trail Races are held at Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill with Race HQ at Wilson Lodge. Parking next to Wilson Lodge is reserved for staff and volunteers; event parking is organized in the park loop near the baseball field and pavilions, with volunteers directing traffic. The main park road is one-way, counter-clockwise. Parking on the race course, the main park road, or the small lots by the jump-off is not permitted.
The course has been revised to remove known problem sections, add a Finger Lakes Trail re-route, include running down switchbacks, and route the road portion so runners travel against traffic without crossing the road twice. The organizers are placing less emphasis on achieving a specific nominal distance.
There are three fully staffed aid stations situated around miles 3, 6, and 9. Aid station supplies include water, Skratch Labs Hydration, GU gels, candy, watermelon, and salty snacks. Long course runners are encouraged to carry their own hydration packs and all participants are asked to bring a personal drinking vessel. Requests to transport personal drop bags to aid stations will be considered.
The short course follows the long course start but turns at Aid Station 1 and remains entirely inside the park on trails with relatively little elevation change. Camping options are available near the lodges and campers have access to outdoor grills and some kitchen equipment. Post-race activities at Watkins Lodge include food from R's Market, beer from Peacemaker Brewing, snacks and athlete support from In Motion Physical Therapy FLX. Awards and giveaways include overall awards for long and short courses, a long sleeve shirt, and a branded pint glass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
