About the race
Mrs. McCormick's Ice House is a winter trail race at Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill in Naples, NY, scheduled for January 16, 2027. The event is organized by FarFetched Enterprises and is the second race in the Common Ground Winter Trail Series run in collaboration with Goose Adventure Racing and Doody Runs.
The course is a roughly 4-mile loop designed to use preferred trail sections while avoiding areas prone to heavy snow and wind. Participants may complete one, two, or three loops to create the following distances:
- 12 Mile (three loops of the ~4-mile course)
- 8 Mile (two loops of the ~4-mile course)
- 4 Mile (one loop of the ~4-mile course)
Race headquarters is Wilson Lodge in the park; the lodge is heated and has real restrooms. Parking is available adjacent to the lodge and park roads will be plowed if needed. Trail conditions and weather may require changes to the race-day course.
A snowshoe option is offered in 2027. The event encourages bringing Nordic skis, sleds, and fatbikes; those participants will be served pancakes and hot beverages. Dion Snowshoes will provide demos.
Post-race provisions include buckwheat pancakes with Naples Maple Farm syrup, hot chai, hot chocolate with a recovery option, warm apple cider, hydration drinks, fresh fruit, and snacks.
Entry fee is listed at USD 28.50. The event has relaxed policies: no fees for participant transfers, distance switching, deferrals, or refunds. Refunds are available through January 8, 2027 and deferrals through January 15, 2027; UltraSignup fees are not refundable. The Race Director may disqualify participants for unsporty actions, littering, course-cutting, or receiving aid outside designated areas.
