One Step Closer
One Step Closer is a timed endurance event organized by Orca Running in Lincoln Park, Seattle, Washington, on August 15, 2026. The event is held on an approximately two mile loop that returns to a baseball field every lap.
Participants choose a timed format and complete as many laps as they can within that period:
- 18 hours
- 12 hours
- 6 hours
- 3 hours There are also kids Loopy Races with 30 minute and 1 hour options.
The course follows the Puget Sound shoreline on a mix of paved paths and packed gravel, passes a park sculpture called the troll, and includes a short single track climb into forested trails with evergreens and ferns before returning to the start area. Wildlife commonly seen along the route includes birds, marine mammals, and small mammals.
The start/finish area on the baseball field functions as a central festival area with music, a rotating aid station menu, a loop tally station, a glam station, and family spectator space. A waterfront aid station near the troll provides water and volunteers ring cowbells and offer cold treats during warm hours. The event is cupless to reduce waste; participants are encouraged to use reusable hydration.
Team competition features teams of two to five runners competing for a Battle of the Run Clubs trophy and an outfitting prize. Overall awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary runners in each time category based on total mileage. Parking is available in the upper Lincoln Park lot and on nearby streets. Pre-race packet pickup is available the Thursday before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
