Club Northwest Winter Grand Prix
The Club Northwest Winter Grand Prix is a seasonal running series consisting of six distinct events held during the winter months. Established in 1996, the series provides a variety of racing surfaces including road, cross country, and track. Each individual race in the series covers a distance of 2 miles.
The events take place across two primary locations in Washington. The road and cross country races are held at Magnuson Park in Seattle, specifically near the kite hill and swimming beach areas. The track events are hosted at Shorecrest High School in Shoreline. Participants can expect a diverse competitive field that includes high school students, open runners, and masters athletes.
The series includes the following race formats:
- 2 Mile Road Race
- 2 Mile Cross Country Race
- 2 Mile Track Race
Races are typically conducted regardless of winter weather, provided there is less than two inches of snow and the course or track remains free of icy conditions. To be eligible for division prizes at the end of the season, participants must complete at least four of the six scheduled races. Prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place in various divisions. Additionally, the first 100 participants receive a commemorative event t-shirt.
