OM die DAM : Franschhoek trail event
OM die DAM is a trail running event held at the Bells Lodge parking area and Berg River Dam near Franschhoek in the Western Cape. The event offers multiple trail distances on marked routes, with GPX files distributed to participants before the event. Water tables are provided on each route, race numbers and timing are included, and medics are on standby. Every finisher receives a medal and a beer or soft drink.
Available distances include:
- 25 km: mountain and dam route with cliff-edge single track intended for experienced runners.
- 15 km: route around the Berg River Dam with gentle trails and scenic views.
- 10 km: around half the dam, mostly single track and suitable for less experienced runners.
- 6 km: shorter, easier run aimed at families and casual participants.
On-the-day registration takes place at the field at the Berg River Dam. Recommended kit listed for participants includes at least 1 litre of water, race food such as fruit or energy bars, a rain jacket or space blanket, and a fully charged cellphone.
