North Yorks Ultra Challenge
The North Yorks Ultra Challenge takes place 26–27 June 2027 with basecamp in Scarborough. The event follows coastal and moorland paths around the town and beaches, north along the Cleveland Way through Robin Hood Bay to Whitby, and then inland for full 100 km challengers via the Esk Valley and moorland before returning through Moors Park Forest and the Tabular Hills Walk to Scarborough. Whitby and its abbey serve as a main basecamp and a 50 km halfway point.
Participants can walk, jog, or run and choose from several distances:
- 100 km
- 50 km
- ~25 km
- Whitby 25 km
- 10 mile
Support and logistics include covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with major stops at about 25, 50, 75 and 100 km. Meal stops occur approximately every 25 km and all stops offer hot drinks, water and energy drinks. Rest stops provide seating, toilets, medical areas, changing rooms and baggage pickup. The event uses a fully signed route with pink arrows and glow sticks at night, plus GPS tracking via an event app and a timing system that scans progress at rest stops.
Medical, podiatry and massage teams are available on route and at major stops. Camping packages are provided at basecamp with showers and chill out areas. Shuttle buses, parking and transfers are available for supporters and arrivals. Finishers receive a medal, a t shirt, a photo finish and a finishers meal.
