The course runs on dirt and rocky single track trails and includes a river crossing. The 10K loop is described as hilly with about 650 feet of elevation gain. The 10K, 4 hour, 6 hour, and 8 hour events use 10K loops; the 4M uses a special 4M loop.
Headlamps are required for all races. A water carrying system is required for all events; a 16 ounce minimum is specified with an exception noted for the shortest distance. Aid stations provide cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice; dedicated water stations provide water and ice. Drop bag transport to aid stations is not available; drop bags may be left at the start and finish area. Parking is located close to the start and finish.
The optional Claw Challenge is an opt in during registration. Participants who opt in receive a unique bib with a tear tag. A volunteer runner acting as the Claw chases participants; if the claw removes the tag the runner is marked as clawed, if the tag remains the runner is recorded as having beat the Claw. Ruck requirements: participants over 150 pounds carry a 30 pound ruck and those under 150 pounds carry a 20 pound ruck. Prizes include finisher medals, event apparel, first place awards by gender, and additional medal attachments for Claw results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
