About the race
Night Claw is a nighttime trail race at Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, TX, organized by Texas Outlaw Running. The event offers multiple distances and timed options with a mix of dirt and rocky out-and-back trails on park routes.
Available distances include:
- 20K
- 10K
- 10K Ruck
- 5K
- 4 Hour
- 6 Hour
- 8 Hour
The course uses park trails and includes hilly terrain; the 10K loop shows about 650 ft of elevation gain and is the loop used by 10K, 4-hour, 6-hour, and 8-hour participants. The event lists historic nighttime temperatures in the mid 70s to mid 90s Fahrenheit. This is a no cup race, so participants need their own water-carrying system. Aid stations, course markings, photography, and volunteer support are provided.
An optional Claw Challenge adds a chase element: participants who opt in receive bibs with tear tags. A designated runner called the Claw pursues participants on the 10K route and may remove tear tags when they catch someone. Finishers whose tear tag remains intact receive a different finisher attachment than those who were caught. Event gear and awards include a tri blend tee, a finisher medal, placement awards for 5K/10K/10K Ruck/20K, and most loops awards for timed events.
