Night Challenge 4: Glendalough

This is a night trail event around Glendalough in County Wicklow with marked routes on technical terrain. The long course is a loop of 10 km with 490 m of ascent and includes sections of the Wicklow Way and St Kevin's Way. The route reaches the summit of Derrybawn and passes near Laragh before returning toward the Upper Lake. The short course is a lower lake loop that rejoins the long course for the final section and passes Glendalough's round tower and St Kevin's church.

The route is fully marked and GPS use is not allowed. The event is listed as Moderate difficulty with terrain between 200 m and 500 m ascent and overall route lengths in the 6 to 10 km band.

Mandatory kit is Level B Standard and must be carried: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. A suitable torch for running at night is required and a spare torch or battery is recommended. Organisers may carry out random kit checks; lack of required items may result in denied entry or disqualification.

Participant eligibility notes: entrants turning 14 in 2026 or older may enter the short course; entrants turning 18 in 2026 or older may enter the long course.
