Canyon of the Eagles New Year's Trail Challenge 100K
The Canyon of the Eagles New Year's Trail Challenge is a two-day trail running and rucking event held 01/01/2027 to 01/02/2027 in Burnet, Texas at Canyon of the Eagles. The event offers multiple distances on looped trails with river views and limestone bluffs.
The ultramarathon options use a looped course on trails and along the Colorado River. Distances for the ultramarathons are 62.2 miles and 31.1 miles with a 24 hour cutoff and an indicated elevation change of 512 ft gain and 531 ft loss per loop.
The marathon is 26.2 miles, routed on varied natural terrain, and carries a 12 hour cutoff; running or hiking poles are recommended. Half marathon and shorter distances are offered on the same scenic looped routes. Several distances include a ruck division that requires carrying a weighted backpack and includes weight verification at the start and finish; specific minimum weights are stated per ruck event.
The Last One Standing Gauntlet is an elimination style backyard ultra that proceeds by repeated hourly loops. Loop length increases in stages from 4 to 7 miles and paces tighten as the event progresses, with escalation occurring every eight hours until hour 33. The final title is awarded to the last participant still completing the required loops.
