Napa Wilderness Trail Runs
The Napa Wilderness Trail Runs take place at Skyline Wilderness Park and feature a variety of distances through the Napa Open Space. The event includes four distinct race lengths:
- 50K: An ultra marathon with approximately 6,700 feet of vertical gain.
- 30K: A route featuring approximately 4,000 feet of elevation gain.
- 21K: A half marathon distance with about 2,600 feet of gain.
- 10K: A shorter course with approximately 1,300 feet of elevation gain.
The courses utilize the Rim Rock Trail, which provides views of Napa Valley, Mount Diablo, Mount Tamalpais, and Mount Saint Helena. The routes consist of various trail types, including newly added sections in the Napa Open Space.
This is a cupless event; participants must bring their own hydration systems or bottles, as no cups are provided at aid stations or the start area. Aid stations are positioned every 5 to 9 miles, offering water, hydration drinks, and various snacks. For the 50K and 30K distances, a specific 7-mile section contains only a water stop, requiring runners to be self-sufficient. Time cutoffs are in place for all distances, including a 10-hour limit for the 50K.
Participants receive a shirt and a lightweight insulated cup upon finishing. Awards are limited to the top three overall male and female finishers in each distance, provided there are at least 50 runners in the category. The event is manually timed, and results are posted online following the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
