About the race
The Call of the Wild trail races take place at Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen on April 17, 2027. The event offers multiple distances on natural-surface trails, including:
- Half Marathon
- 5.5 Mile
- 5K
The course starts and finishes in the picnic area next to the London Cottage and runs through the Beauty Ranch. Runners pass concrete silos, see vineyard views, and travel into hillsides and grassy meadows on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain among madrone, Douglas fir, black oak, buckeye, and bigleaf maple.
Course logistics include a 3.5 hour cut-off time for half marathoners. The route will be marked with orange ribbon. Aid stations are located at miles 3 and 9.6 on the half marathon course and at approximately mile 2.5 on the 5.5 mile course. Hikers and walkers are welcome and organizers recommend carrying water.
Bibs are mailed beginning two weeks before the event; participants who do not receive a bib may pick one up on race morning at the start/finish area. Parking inside Jack London State Park carries a $10 per vehicle fee, with no parking allowed along London Ranch Road and limited availability. For safety, headphones and other audio devices are not allowed on narrow sections with steep drop offs.
Participants receive event T shirts; personalized award ribbons are mailed to the top three male and female finishers in each age group for every distance, and finisher medals are awarded to all half marathon finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
