Muriwai Marathon 2026 - Predator Free Muriwai
The Muriwai event is a trail running festival on Auckland’s west coast organised by the Muriwai Environmental Trust and Predator Free Muriwai. Courses run across coastal and forest terrain, combining forestry roads, single-track trails, dune paths, a winding stream track, and flowing downhill sections with wide coastal views.
Distances available:
- 22 km half-marathon style trail course
- 7 km run or walk
- 3 km family run or walk
The event base is at the Muriwai Surf Club. Parking will be limited and participants are asked to follow on-site parking directions and drive slowly near the trails. Parts of the courses cross private property and are accessible only on event day; training on those segments may result in disqualification.
Aid stations are placed around the courses and offer electrolytes, a water refill station, and mixed lollies. Local first aiders and marshals will be stationed on course; marshal instructions must be obeyed. The organiser operates a no-refunds policy and offers an optional event insurance product at entry.
Festival features at the finish area include food trucks, coffee, breakfast service, live music, kids activities, and an R18+ bar in collaboration with Hallertau Brewery. All finishers receive a complimentary soft flask and a native plant; additional prizes are awarded to category winners. The event supports local conservation efforts, with funds directed toward reintroducing kiwi to the Muriwai area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
