Mt. Umunhum Marathon
The Mt. Umunhum Marathon is a point-to-point trail race that begins at the Hacienda Entrance of Almaden Quicksilver County Park in San Jose, California and goes to the top of Mt. Umunhum before returning to the Hacienda finish. The course profile includes 5,515 feet of ascent and is marked primarily with single solid pink ribbons, orange cones, signs, and gypsum. Runners should note there are no pink ribbons for a 1.8 mile stretch on the Barlow Trail between mile 8.2 and mile 9.9, and there are no ribbons to the Umunhum turnaround; signs appear roughly three miles from the finish.
The event is organized as a marathon with a nine hour time limit and an overall cutoff at the finish. Aid and water are provided at multiple locations including Woods Parking Lot (around mile 5.3), the Mt. Umunhum and Barlow Trail water stop (around mile 9.9 and again on the return), the Mt. Umunhum summit aid station (around mile 13.35), and the Hacienda start/finish area. Toilets are available at the start/finish and at the listed aid stations. Drop bags can be left at Woods Parking Lot and the Mt. Umunhum summit parking lot and will be returned to the start/finish.
Entry fees are listed for advance and race day registration and do not include third party processing fees; active military and first responders receive a 15 percent discount. Parking is available at the Hacienda main entrance with carpooling encouraged. Runners are advised to watch for falling trees and to use caution at road crossings.
