Martello Half Marathon
The Martello Half Marathon is a scenic, undulating trail event around Seaford that combines the seafront with sections on the South Downs. The race is organised by Martello Rotary Seaford together with Seaford Striders Running Club and is supported by volunteer marshals.
The course is described as scenic but demanding, with climbs and exposed sections where wind is possible. Detailed route maps and GPX files are available. For safety there is a cut off: runners must reach the first water station, at approximately 4 miles, within one hour to remain on course.
Event facilities and inclusions listed for runners include water stations, a bespoke finish medal, free finish-line photos, and bananas and homemade flapjacks at the finish. Registration, number collection and bag storage are handled from the Scout Hut at Salts Recreation Ground, Richmond Road. There are toilets at the Salts Recreation Ground and additional external toilet provisions have been arranged. Ample free seafront parking is usually available though spaces can fill; pay and display car parks are nearby. Seaford railway station and local bus stops are about a five minute walk from the event.
Any surplus after event expenses in 2027 is to be split equally between Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne and Rotary Martello Seaford. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
