Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50

The Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50 is a point to point 50 mile race that follows the Trans-Pennine Trail, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey between Manchester and Liverpool. The course is described as well marked and fast with a total elevation gain of 123 m and a 14 hour cut off.

The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points with allocation to be confirmed. The field is limited to 750 places; the 2027 edition is reported as sold out, but places may be transferred to another runner up to 5 March 2027 under the organiser’s transfer rules.

Live online GPS tracking is provided through GB Race Tracker so friends and family can follow participants on race day. The race has six staffed checkpoints offering refreshments, vegan and vegetarian options, and medical cover. Specific checkpoint locations are listed by the organiser and checkpoint cut offs are strictly enforced.

Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have previously completed an organised marathon distance. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a waterproof coat, long sleeve base layer, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone, foil blanket, headtorch plus secondary headtorch, whistle and the GB Race Tracker device. Entry fees and a small affiliated discount are specified by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
