Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50

The Manchester to Liverpool Ultra is a supported ultra running event covering 50 miles with 123 m of elevation between Manchester and Liverpool. The route follows sections of the Trans-Pennine Trail, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey, and is waymarked with on-course signage and six staffed checkpoints offering refreshments and medical cover.

The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, be in good health, and have completed an organised event of at least marathon distance prior to race day. Live online GPS tracking is provided for the event. The race uses a GPS tracker that remains the property of the organiser and must be returned after the race.

There is a 14 hour overall cut off and checkpoint cut off times are strictly enforced. Checkpoints provide cola, Tailwind (mandarin orange), water, juice, sandwiches, salted potatoes, fruit and snacks, with vegan and vegetarian options. Support restrictions apply at some checkpoints; for example supporters and crews are not permitted at Checkpoint 2 due to access and safety concerns.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and may be checked randomly; required items include a waterproof coat, long sleeve base layer, minimum 1 litre water capacity, fully charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, foil blanket, headtorch plus a secondary headtorch, whistle and the event GPS tracker. No pacers or support runners are permitted. The 2027 event is listed as sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
