Mountain to Surf : Lorne Surf Life Saving Club
The Powercor Lorne Mountain to Surf is an annual community run organised by the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club and its volunteers. The event is an out-and-back route of approximately 8 km that starts in the Lorne township on the Great Ocean Road, climbs through the Otway forest ranges to the St George River track, follows the river toward the Southern Ocean, and returns along the Lorne Pier and cliff track to the Surf Life Saving Club.
The event functions as a fundraiser for the club and its programs and includes recognition for repeat participants through the Mountain Goat medals, awarded for every ten events completed. A virtual option is available so entrants who cannot attend in person can still record a result that counts toward Mountain Goat tallies and receive the event T-shirt.
Entries for the 2027 Powercor Lorne Mountain to Surf open on 2 November 2026, and the 2026 event was cancelled due to fire rating levels and a 24-hour closure of the Great Otway National Park; t-shirts were mailed to entrants and Mountain Goat tallies were adjusted.
