About the race
The Tim Gates Classic is a fun run and walk held by Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club on Sunday 3 January 2027 at Fairhaven, Aireys Inlet. The event offers two measured course options with electronic timing and clearly marked routes.

Entry categories cover age groups for both male and female participants, including under-age divisions, open age groups, masters, and legends. Registration and payment are handled through a third-party timing platform; fees vary by age and include children's and adult prices, with group discounts and additional transaction fees. Participants receive a race bib with electronic timing and a Tim Gates Classic t-shirt while stocks last. Awards are presented to overall placegetters in the run events.
Race-day arrangements include t-shirt and bib collection and a race briefing. Organisers recommend participants are fit to compete and have sought any needed medical advice; they also advise taking steps to stay hydrated. The event may be cancelled due to bushfire, severe weather, or other factors beyond the club's control; entry fees are non-refundable.
