Little Bitty Backyard - Emmaus, Pennsylvania
Little Bitty Backyard is a last person standing backyard ultra held at the Wildlands Conservancy South Mountain Preserve. The event uses a single loop repeated every hour on the hour; missing the start for the next loop results in elimination and the sequence continues until one competitor remains.
The chosen loop is about 3.4 miles with more than 350 ft of elevation change over challenging trail terrain. Loop times for the backyard portion are not chip timed; a separate nighttime event called Blackout is a single chip timed loop on the same course.
Each competitor receives a 10×10 transition space for a tent, cot, aid supplies, and crew support. Pacers are not permitted during the main backyard event. The format allows a short transition window for runners who return before the next start bell; returning after the bell means elimination.
The event is organized with a zero carbon approach. A registration fee includes an offset component and the organizer will collect monetary donations for Wildlands Conservancy. The Trail Mix Fund may cover registration fees for eligible applicants from underrepresented communities. Gently worn, used, or new shoes are accepted for Sneakers 4 Good with proceeds benefiting Wildlands Conservancy. Volunteer and partnership opportunities are available and volunteers may earn a future free race entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
