Veterans & Military Council 5k
An annual 5K Ruck and Run/Walk event to honor veterans during Veterans Appreciation Week in the Lehigh Valley. The in-person event takes place at Bicentennial Park in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and uses an off-road grass course through the park.
Event distance options include:
- 5K Run/Walk on an off-road grass course through Bicentennial Park.
- 5K Ruck; ruckers are strongly encouraged to carry a minimum 10% of their body weight on the honor system.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk; this option is non-competitive with no timing or awards.
Online registration opens 2026-09-01 and closes 2026-11-11. Standard online registration is free; day of registration is available for a $10 fee. Participants who register and make a $30 minimum donation by 2026-11-07 may opt to receive an event giveaway at the event.
Awards are presented to the top three male and top three female finishers in each age group for the 5K Ruck and the 5K Run/Walk. Races include seven age groups: 12 and under, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus. The college or university team and the business or company team with the most participants earn a plaque to display at their campus or workplace. Dogs are not allowed to run in the races.
