Leigh-on-Sea Striders 10k
The event on 1 November 2026 is an after-dark, multi-terrain running event in Leigh-on-Sea that offers both 10 km and 5 km races. It holds a UKA Race Permit (number 31818) and provides accurate chip timing with instant result printout and a finishing certificate.
The 5 km remains on the programme after its introduction last year. Entries are open for 11-15 year olds in the 5 km and for 16+ in the 10 km. All entrants in the juniors 11-15 race must be accompanied at the event by an adult who takes full responsibility for their safety and well being. Headtorches or body torches are mandatory. Fancy dress is optional and a bonus prize is awarded for costume.
The event reinstates themed, sustainably sourced medals for every finisher and continues to provide a customary glass of prosecco. All finishers receive a 20% discount at RunActive stores on presentation of their bib number, subject to terms and conditions.
Safety measures include marshals positioned along the course. The event is run as a not for profit and supports several charities focused on Essex based care, including Gold Geese and Southend Foodbank. Part of the route uses Two Tree Island Nature Reserve with the agreement of the Essex Wildlife Trust. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
