Laliik Trail Races
Laliik Trail Races take place in Benton City, WA, at the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve / Rattlesnake Mountain Recreation Preserve Trailhead. The event, organized by Runners of the Sage, includes multiple trail race options and a six hour timed event. The races serve as a fundraiser for the Winter Mountain Running Series and for the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve; Runners of the Sage have maintained these trails since 2017.

Course details: The courses are trail runs through shrub steppe terrain with significant climbing. The 5K is an out-and-back on Aster Gully with about 450 feet of gain. The 11K is a loop that includes the Mountain Goat Challenge, a steep ascent and descent that rises about 700 feet over 0.43 miles, and roughly 1400 feet of total climbing. The 10 Mile route also has about 1400 feet of climbing and offers views of Rattlesnake Mountain and the Columbia River Basin. The six hour event uses the 11K loop configuration of roughly 6.5 miles and 1400 feet of gain per loop; participants complete as many loops as possible within the event duration.
Registration and logistics: Pre-registration prices and a price increase date are published; pre-registration closes on February 26. There is no day of registration for the six hour event. Packet pickup and day-of registration are offered at a Tri-Cities location and at the trailhead. This is a cupless event; participants are expected to provide their own water bottle. T-shirt and merchandise policies vary by distance, with the 10 Mile shirt included in pre-registration and other shirts available for an additional fee. All participants receive a finisher glass and overall top three male and female awards are given. A cash prize is available for any new course record.
