Lake District Ultra Challenge

The Lake District Ultra Challenge is a multi-distance trail event in the southern Lake District with basecamp in Kendal on 5-6 June 2027. The full route is a loop of about 100 km that passes Garburn Pass, historic Ambleside, a halfway point by Lake Windermere, forests and nature reserves, and several steep sections.

Events provide full on-course support and covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km, with major stops at about 25, 50, 75 and 100 km. Snack stops are scheduled every 12.5 km and meals about every 25 km. Hot drinks, water and energy drinks are available at all stops, with dietary options and lighter runner choices. Rest stops include toilets, medical areas, changing rooms and baggage pickup.

The route is signed with arrows and glow-sticks for night sections and includes GPS tracking via a mobile app. A timing system scans participants at rest stops. Medical teams, podiatrists and masseuses are available at stops and along the route. Basecamp camping packages include hot showers, drinks stations and chill areas. At the finish participants receive a medal, a finisher’s t-shirt, a photo finish and a finishers meal. Shuttle and parking options are provided for travel and supporters. A Lake District trail event from 9 km to 52 km with steep climbs, technical descents, multiple outposts and a £1 per entry donation to Fix the Fells.
A half marathon on Saturday 19 September 2026 at Lakeland Maze Farm Park near Kendal, running over farm trails and through the maze. Entry includes maze access, chip timing, medals, three water stations and parking.
A 10 km fell race around Orton with 258 m of ascent, held at Orton C of E Primary School on 26 September 2026, with junior races and team entries.
A 22 km fell race from Tilberthwaite Farm with about 1,535 m of ascent on a route new from 2025. Run under FRA rules, entry is limited to 350 and requires mandatory kit and navigation skills.
