Lake District Ultra Challenge

The event basecamp is in Kendal. The full route is a loop of about 100 km that passes Garburn Pass, historic Ambleside, a halfway point by Lake Windermere, forests and nature reserves, and several hills. The organiser provides covered rest stops, route signing, GPS tracking via an app, and on-route scanning to log progress.

Support and services are provided throughout the route. Rest stops appear about every 12.5 km with major stops near 25 km intervals; they include seating, toilets, medical areas, baggage pick up, and catering. Food and drink provision includes regular snack stops, meals approximately every 25 km, and hot and cold drinks; dietary requirements are catered for and lighter options are available for runners. A medical team with doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists and masseuses operates at rest stops and on the route.

Additional arrangements include camping and hostel accommodation at Base Camp for those doing the full challenge over two days, showers and chill areas at camp, shuttle transfers to nearby stations, and parking at many finish locations. Finishers receive a medal, t-shirt, commemorative photo and a finishers meal. Shorter distance options are offered alongside the full route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
