Knaresborough Crag Rat Run 2026
The Knaresborough Crag Rat Run is a 5 Miles mixed terrain road and trail race around Knaresborough that encircles the River Nidd. The event is organised by Knaresborough Striders and is held with a race licence ARC 26/0763. The entry limit is 250 places. Entry fees are £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for unaffiliated runners; entry on the day is available for an additional £2 and card payments are not accepted.
The route starts at Knaresborough Cricket Club and takes runners down trails from the crag to a tarmacked section beside the River Nidd. The course passes through woodland, returns on a fast tarmacked stretch to a narrow riverside path, crosses the bridge near the Petrifying Well and then follows a further riverside section before climbing back up the crag to the finish. Approximately half of the course is on tarmac.
Facilities at race headquarters include toilets, changing areas, baggage storage, distance markers and water. There are no showers. Prizes are awarded for top finishers and for veteran categories, and prize vouchers are supplied by local hospitality venues. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available for cash donations, with all money raised going to Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The race is not suitable for wheelchairs. Race headquarters is Knaresborough Cricket Club, Aspin Lane, Knaresborough. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
