JFK 50 Mile
Held every November in Washington County, Maryland since 1963, the JFK 50 Mile is an annual point to point ultramarathon with a long history. The 64th running is scheduled for November 21, 2026.
The course covers 50.2 miles from downtown Boonsboro to Williamsport. The opening section climbs the first 5.5 miles, gaining about 1,172 feet and joining the Appalachian Trail near mile 2.5. After rocky ridge running and the steep descent at Weverton Cliffs, the route drops to 26.3 flat miles on the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac. The final 8.4 miles follow rolling country roads into Williamsport, finishing at Springfield Middle School.
Race logistics include a minimum of 14 fully stocked aid stations and optional GPS tracking through RaceJoy for those who carry a phone. Personal listening devices are prohibited on the course. Crew access is limited to three locations (around miles 15.0, 27.3, and 38.7). Bag transport is provided from the start to the finish; pacers and bicycles are not permitted.
Every official finisher within the 13 hour limit receives a finisher medallion. Cash awards are offered to top finishers and a course record bonus is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
