Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge

The Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is a series of supported trek and trail events held on the Isle of Wight on 1 - 2 May 2027. Routes run along the southern cliffs, past the Needles, through historic Cowes and on to Ventnor for the full island route. The main basecamp is at Chale.

Multiple distance options are offered, including:

  • 106 km Full Island
  • ~50 km
  • 25 km
  • 10 mile Cowes

The event provides covered rest stops approximately every 12.5 km with larger marquee stops every 25 km. Catering includes snacks at frequent intervals, main hot meals every 25 km, energy drinks, and options for dietary requirements and lighter runner choices. A finishers meal is provided.

The route is fully signed with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections, and GPS tracking is available through an event app. A timing system scans participants at rest stops and progress is monitored by a control room. Medical provision includes doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists, massage teams, and mobile emergency medical teams reachable via the event control room.

Camping packages are available at the Chale basecamp and at a Cowes midpoint campsite for multi day options. Shuttle services and transfers operate between Cowes ferry port and event basecamps. Finishers receive a medal, T shirt, a glass of fizz, and a downloadable official certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
