Holiday Hootie Hoo
The Holiday Hootie Hoo is a trail running event held at F.D.R. State Park in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Organized by the Southern Singletrack Trail Series, this event marks the ninth year of the competition and serves as the final race in their annual series. Participants run on a variety of terrains including hardwood and longleaf pine forests with rock outcroppings and springs.
The course consists of rocky and root-filled singletrack trails, which are typically covered in leaves during the month of December. The event features two specific distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
The Half Marathon route includes creek crossings and rock formations, with two and a half aid stations available along the course. The 10 km route follows the Mountain Creek Nature Trail Loop and a portion of the Longleaf Loop, featuring one aid station.
Participants receive a race hoodie and a finisher award upon completion. The event site includes a campfire for participants to gather after finishing. A parking fee is required for entry to the state park, and carpooling is encouraged due to limited space. This event also serves as a fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the park, the Pine Mountain Trail Association, and the Humane Society of Harris County.
