Hardrock 100
The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is an official 100 mile ultramarathon held on a loop course in the San Juan Mountain Range of southern Colorado. The route combines 4WD roads, dirt trails, and cross country terrain and runs at high elevation.
Course statistics include a total elevation change of 66,882 feet composed of 33,441 feet of climb and 33,441 feet of descent, with an average elevation of 11,186 feet. The course low point is 7,680 feet at Ouray and the high point is 14,048 feet at Handies Peak. The race base is in Silverton, Colorado.
The event publishes course maps and runner and volunteer manuals. Entry is managed by a lottery process with an application window and a separate lottery drawing; the 2027 lottery application window is scheduled for Oct 1 to Oct 14, 2026, and the lottery drawing is scheduled for Dec 5, 2026. The 2027 event is scheduled for July 9 to July 11 and will traverse the loop in a counter clockwise direction.
Organizers acknowledge that the course traverses ancestral homelands of the Ute, Puebloan and Diné peoples and note that all or part of the operation takes place on public lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.
The event maintains a transgender and non binary athlete inclusion policy that recognizes a non binary division and respects self declared gender without requiring supporting documentation, with limited formal eligibility challenges reserved for top three finishers and handled confidentially.
The race supports the Joel Zucker Memorial Scholarship program; for 2026 the program awarded six high school and ten continuing education scholarships totaling $64,000 and reported a cumulative distribution of $435,000 over 27 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
