Hair of the Bear 15K & 5K
The Hair of the Bear is the 8th annual running event held at Shawnee Inn and ShawneeCraft Brewing Company in Shawnee On Delaware, Pennsylvania. The event offers two chip-timed races on courses that use the resort property, nearby roads, and local trails. Time limits are set for each distance.
Distances
- 15K - includes about 5 miles on the McDade Trail plus about 4 miles on paved roads.
- 5K - about 90% paved, routed on the property and neighboring roads.
Included items and course support include a high-quality short sleeve shirt (options for men/unisex, women, and youth), a long sleeve upgrade for an extra fee, custom finisher medals for both distances, a custom beer glass, water stations, and course marshals. Participants and volunteers receive a brunch buffet ticket; participants also receive one beer ticket with soda available for those under 21. A live musician performs after the race until 12 Noon. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall and to age group winners (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, then every 10 years).

Packet pick-up is available on race day. Spectators are welcome and food and beer are available for purchase. Volunteers receive a drink ticket, breakfast buffet, and a free future race entry.
