Gosfield Backyard Ultra
Gosfield Backyard Ultra takes place 29 Aug 2026 to 31 Aug 2026 on the grounds of Gosfield School in Essex, UK. The event follows the backyard ultra format: runners repeat a measured loop each hour until only one runner remains.
Each lap measures 4.167 mile (6706 metres). A horn is sounded exactly on the hour; runners must be in the starting area before the horn and must complete each loop before the next hour. Runners must start each loop and cross the line within 30 seconds of the start horn or they will be recorded as a DNF. Only loops completed within the time limit count.
Support on the course is not permitted. After a runner starts a loop they may not visit their tent or receive assistance until the lap is complete. The decision of the race director is final.
Event facilities include a camping area next to race headquarters, an indoor area, Wi‑Fi, USB charging stations, showers and changing rooms. The route is fully marked. Organisers provide a small aid station with hot and cold drinks, a selection of fruits, sweets and snacks, and extra tables for runners who do not have a support crew. Every finisher receives a memento; the winner receives a unique prize and £150. Entry is limited to 100 places.
