Funest 50k @ Carter Rd - April 17, 2027
The event offers trail races at Loyce E. Harpe Park in Mulberry, FL, with looped courses on mountain bike trails that pass through an old phosphate mine area. The surface includes sand and dirt singletrack with rolling hills and many twists and turns. Course signage includes over 600 markers.
Distances
- 50k - five 10k loops
- 30k - three 10k loops
- 10k - one 10k loop
The field for the 2027 event is limited to 125 runners across the listed distances. Aid is provided at the start area and at an aid station near mile 3.5, with electrolytes, soda and water available. The event uses a 10 hour cutoff, equivalent to a 19:20 per mile pace.
Awards are given to the top three overall men and women and to the first masters man and woman. Every finisher receives socks, a finisher sticker and an award. A portion of registration proceeds supports Polk County Parks and Recreation.
Bib pickup and the start/finish area are located at the park shelter near the park entrance. Food will be available at the start/finish area, including quesadillas, hot dogs, hamburgers, bacon, and later offerings for longer-distance participants such as chicken and smoked meats.
