Fan Fawr
Fan Fawr is a fell race held on 3 October 2026 and forms part of the South Wales Series. The course covers 3.2 km / 2 mi with a climb of 305 m / 1001 ft and starts at the lay-by opposite Storey Arms, LD3 8NL on the A470 Merthyr-Brecon road (GR SO983204).
The event notes that experience is required, local knowledge is beneficial, and navigational skills are required. The minimum age for entry is over 16; junior races are to be confirmed. Historical course records are 16:02 (male, 1991) and 19:16 (female, 1991).
Practical details: entry is on the day only at a fee of £2. Toilets are located about 0.5 miles south on the A470. Competitors should be aware that no safety pins are provided. The event is insured by the WFRA. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
