East Hanningfield Trail Marathon
The East Hanningfield Trail Marathon is a narrative trail race that follows a circular route around the village of Danbury. The course is about 95% off road and covers a wide variety of terrain. The event starts and finishes at East Hanningfield Village Hall.
Competitors follow written instructions rather than marshals or arrows. For safety, runners are expected to carry a mobile of the same number they left at registration. Timing is from the gun; race numbers must be clearly visible on the front and competitors may be asked to shout their number at the finish. Results are intended to be posted on the web later the same day.
There are three well stocked checkpoints, placed at approximately every 6.5 miles. Finishers receive a medal and hot food. Bags may be left in the village hall, where someone will be present at all times.
The event is run under permit from The Trail Running Association (permit number TBC). Race rules include not passing your number to others, reporting to the organiser if abandoning the race, and avoiding personal stereos so competitors remain aware of their surroundings.
Entry details note a fee of £31.00. Withdrawal and transfer terms state a 50% refund until 5 October 2026, no refunds after that date, no deferals, and place transfers permitted until 25 December 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
