Deception Pass 50K Fall - Deception Pass State Park, Washington
This event is a set of trail races held in Deception Pass State Park on Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands in northern Puget Sound, taking place in early November. The courses run along rugged coastline, through dense forest, over bluffs and along short steep hills. Runners cross the Deception Pass Bridge twice and move between sea level sections and high bluff trails. Much of the route is single track; sections can be rocky, rooty, narrow and twisty. There is about one mile of paved park road at the start and additional paved stretches of roughly 1.5 miles on Cornet Bay Road for the longer races.
Aid stations are placed on course and are stocked with water, electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, chips, pickles, cookies or candy, gels, basic first aid supplies and feminine hygiene items. Drop bags are allowed at specified aid stations and at the finish. Well behaved leashed dogs are permitted on course. Crew access is allowed only at designated aid station locations.
Parking inside Deception Pass State Park requires a Discover Pass. There is no overnight parking or camping at the start/finish area; campground camping is available elsewhere in the park. An early start option is available for the longest events for runners who expect extended finish times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
