Orcas Island 100 Miler

The Orcas Island 100 Miler is a trail race in Olga, Washington, staged on loops around Moran State Park and island trails. The course passes through old‑growth forest and includes sustained climbs with views of nearby islands, mountains and Puget Sound. Weather can vary from rainy to snowy to sunny and sections of the course are cold, wet, dark and steep.

The event is run as four 25 mile loops for a total of 100 miles, with approximately 26,000 ft of elevation gain and a 36 hour overall cutoff. There are 15 staffed aid stations and additional cutoffs at later loop mile markers; sweeps remove course markings at those cutoffs.

Aid stations are fully stocked with water, gels, electrolyte drink, fruit, sandwiches, hot soup and other foods. Drop bags are allowed at the aid stations. Pacers are permitted starting at mile 25; pacers may not carry items for their runner and must check in. Crew access is limited on the first loop and allowed at specified aid stations on later laps.

Entry prices vary by registration window and include a hoodie and a brass finisher's belt buckle. Entrants must meet a race qualifier from recent organized trail events and must perform a day of trail work within 12 months or submit a minimum $100 trail donation instead. Participants traveling to the island should plan for a ferry reservation. Camp Moran bunkhouse lodging is available with rustic accommodations and limited parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
