Carolina Thread 8/4Hr: Westminster Park, Rock Hill, SC
Carolina Thread is an 8 hour and 4 hour timed race taking place on May 8, 2027 at Westminster Park in Rock Hill, SC. The course uses a 1.75 mile loop on park trails with approximately 155 ft of elevation gain and loss per loop. For 2027 the loop will be run in a clockwise direction.
The event features:
- 8 hour race on a 1.75 mile loop
- 4 hour race on a 1.75 mile loop
Amenities at the venue include open fields near the start and finish for crewing, a playground, an 18 hole disc golf course, restroom facilities, fishing opportunities along the river with a license, and a large pavilion for shelter.
Aid and food are provided at a single aid station located at the start/finish area. Organizers state the aid station will offer organic food items, water, and Just Ingredients Electrolytes, and that hot organic food will be served during the day.
Swag and awards include a swag bag with event merchandise and a sticker, handmade finisher medals, and custom handmade awards for the top three male and female finishers in each time category. Organizers indicate that registration completed by April 14, 2027 is required to guarantee a handmade medal.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at a local running store and also at the race start/finish on race morning. Pacers are not allowed except by special authorization from race management. The event will proceed in most weather and the organizers allow transfers or a one year deferral in specific circumstances such as pregnancy.
