The around Canvey Island Trail Run
The event on 18 October 2026 is a timed, self supported anti clockwise loop around Canvey Island that starts and finishes at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre (Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island SS8 9RA). TRA permit number 7711 (TBC). Non-TRA members and UKA members pay a £2 levi. Entry is restricted to over 18s; any children who spectate must be supervised by an appropriate adult at all times.
The majority of the course follows the sea wall and the King Charles 3rd England Coast Path, combining single-track grass sections with wider concrete and gravel trails. Where weather and tide conditions allow, there is an optional lower promenade section that passes local artwork; there is no penalty for using either the upper or lower section. There is a staffed pub check about 10 km into the route where runners can check in with timers, receive a drink provided by the organisers and refill water bottles. The event has a four hour cutoff and a team of tail walkers/joggers will sweep the course.
Facilities and logistics include registration with race numbers, pins and a bottle of water; toilets inside the leisure centre, at the Lobster Smack and public facilities by the south play area; and free car parking subject to football fixtures. Benfleet Railway Station is an approximately 18 minute brisk walk away, shorter if a bicycle is used. Participants are advised to carry a mobile phone, layers and a lightweight running jacket.
