Burton Creek Trail Run
The Burton Creek Trail Run takes place within Burton Creek State Park near Tahoe City, California, based at Tahoe XC (925 Country Club Drive, Tahoe City, CA 96145). The event offers multiple distance options:
- 6K
- 12K
- Half Marathon
The courses follow miles of single-track trail through pine forests and high Sierra meadows. Burton Creek collects runoff from the Mt. Watson watershed as it flows into Lake Tahoe, and parts of the route run alongside or near these natural features.
Check-in and packet pickup are scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday morning. Aid stations are positioned along each course: half marathon aid stations at miles 2.25, 3.81, 5.78, and 10.1; the 6K has an aid at 2.25; the 12K has aids at 2.25, 3.1, and 4.8.
Entry fees vary by distance, age category, and registration date. Example standard and on-site prices include 6K ($60/$65), 12K ($65/$70), and Half Marathon ($120/$130), with reduced youth and senior rates. Discounts are listed for clubs and teams, challenged athletes, and military; military participants must present military ID at packet pickup and check-in.
Included with registration are an event T-shirt, finishing medal, free digital race photo, recovery snacks, medical staff support, and a BBQ included for the Half Marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
