Bowland Trail Half 2027
The Bowland Trail Half is an unmarked, mixed-surface event based in Slaidburn, starting and finishing at the village hall on 9 January 2027. The route is roughly 13 miles with about 2,000 ft of ascent and runs through the Forest of Bowland area.
The course combines several types of terrain: vehicle tracks that can be fast and runnable, flowing singletrack, sections of road, and boggy climbs. Runners follow a written route description and receive a map; a GPX file is also available and is sent in the final race information. Marshals are positioned at key points but not at every junction. A mandatory race briefing and a compulsory kit list are part of the event for participant safety.
Participants receive a finish line meal and a memento. The event raises money for local foodbanks, including Morecambe Bay Foodbank. Conditions in January can include rain, ice, snow, high winds, and frost; the organiser asks runners to prepare accordingly.
Entry opens 13 June 2026 and closes 31 December 2026. Minimum age is 18. Early entry fees are listed at £34 for the first 40 entries, then £39, and a £4 discount applies for recognised affiliated memberships. Refund and transfer rules apply with deadlines and fees as stated in the event policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
