Tour of Pendle Fell Race
The Tour of Pendle is an AL Fell Race of 27 km (16.8 miles) with 1473 m of climb, based at Barley Village Hall. The race is registered and licensed through the FRA and is organised in accordance with FRA rules and requirements. The minimum age is 18.
Experience and navigational skills are required and local knowledge is an advantage. Cut-offs at CP4 and CP6 will be enforced: CP4 closes 1 hour 50 minutes after the start and CP6 closes 2 hours 45 minutes after the start. CP6 is located at the memorial cairn at the wall corner above Ashendean Clough. Anyone arriving at CP4 or CP6 after closure will be directed back to Barley Village Hall and must inform a marshal at the hall and hand in their race number. If a competitor cannot complete the full course within about five hours in conditions reasonably normal for November, they are unlikely to meet the CP6 cut-off.
Competitors must carry specific kit: waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and an integrated attached hood, hat, gloves, a map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food. GPS devices are not permitted. New race maps will be available from Pete Bland Sports from 01 July. Entry fee is £16 with entry on the day at £25 if places remain. Entries open 1 July and close 31 October. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
