BMF Hounslow Training Run Perry's-Lockleys-Pinnacles Return

This is an organised training run on a section of the Hounslow course that uses Perry's Lookdown Car Park as the start and finish location in Blue Mountains National Park, NSW. The route descends a long flight of stairs into the Grose Valley, crosses the Grose River, climbs a rough trail up to Lockleys Pylon, follows single track to Pinnacles Car Park, then returns to Perry's. An optional turnaround at Lockleys Pylon creates a shorter route.

Distances:

  • 18 km Perry's-Lockleys-Pinnacles return, ~1600 m elevation gain/loss.
  • 11 km Optional turnaround at Lockleys Pylon, ~1200 m gain/loss.

The organiser holds a National Parks and Wildlife Service ECO PASS licence and insurance to run training in the National Park. Sessions include three pace groups named Mighty Turtles, Hares, and a medium-paced group. Run trainers cover race preparation topics such as mandatory gear, race nutrition, pacing, aid-station expectations, and course strategy. Participants will receive a full information sheet before the session that includes meeting points and a course map.

Participants must be at least 16 years old. The session fee is A$95. Runners are asked to carry the Hounslow Classic mandatory gear and enough food and hydration for up to five hours on foot. Expected overall duration varies by pace group, typically around four to six hours with a planned turnaround at about 2.5 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
