Bisley Trail Run
The Bisley Trail Run takes place at Bisley Nature Reserve near Pietermaritzburg on 15 March 2026. The event routes run through grassland and thornveld where giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and a variety of birds such as Southern Tchagra and Dwarf Bittern can be seen.
Courses share an opening kilometre of descending trail, then move onto a mix of jeep track and singletrack with rolling terrain, climbs and flowing descents. The event emphasizes natural scenery and wildlife encounters within the reserve.
Available routes:
- 18 km : 530 m elevation gain, 3 aid stations.
- 11 km : 310 m elevation gain, 2 aid stations.
- 5 km : 153 m elevation gain, 1 aid station.
There are no compulsory kit requirements listed and courses are subject to change. Route descriptions note a significant climb around the halfway point on the long course, plus sections that allow runners to settle into a rhythm on runnable trails.
