Beer City Half San Jose
The Beer City Half San Jose takes place at Almaden Lake Park, utilizing a variety of local trails and park paths. Participants can explore the scenery of San Jose through multiple athletic events that combine running with the local brewing culture.
The event features several distances and participation options:
- Half Marathon: A long-distance run starting at the park and continuing along the Alamitos, Calero Creek, and Guadalupe Creek Trails.
- 10k: A mid-distance course through the local trail system.
- 5k: A shorter distance run held within the park area.
- Beer Stroll: A 1-mile walk around Almaden Lake.
- Beat the Beast Beer Mile: A competitive event where participants consume four 12-oz beers while running one mile.
- Beer Tasting Only: A non-running option for those aged 21 to 100 to access the festival.
All runners receive a shirt, a woodalion finisher's medal, and a custom tasting glass. Registration for running events includes unlimited tasting at the post-run festival, which features selections from regional brewers. An additional gathering, known as the Shindig, is held after the races at Hapas Brewing and features music, food trucks, and games.
The course utilizes paved and natural surface trails, offering a view of parts of San Jose adjacent to the creek systems. The festival serves as a full day of activity centered around the local community and regional craft beer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
