Beast of the Blacks 10,20&40 Mile Ultra

The Beast of the Blacks is an ultra trail event in Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Wales, held on Saturday 6 March 2027. The event offers multiple route lengths over natural terrain and is canicross friendly.

Entries open on 19 March 2026 and close on 28 February 2027 at 18:00. Minimum age for participation is 17 years. Entry fees are listed per distance and include separate fees for each distance.

Routes are fully marked and GPX files are available. The event uses a village location and provides course support that includes three refuel zones, on-course first aid and a full medical team. Facilities at the event include refreshments, toilets, parking (fee applies), a barista, a sportswear shop presence and food options. Results are posted online and a gallery of photos is provided after the event.

Awards and finish items include a bespoke medal, handcrafted trophies for top finishers, veteran category awards and dog awards with dog medals. Parking tickets may be allocated by ballot with a prize of free entry for a future event for the winning ticket.

Mandatory kit is required and checked at registration; required items include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, base layer, capacity to carry 0.5 litres of fluid, food, map or downloaded GPX file, telephone, hat and gloves, suitable trail footwear, first aid kit, foil blanket, head torch, whistle, mask and hand sanitiser.
