Be Active OCR & Trailrun
Be Active OCR & Trailrun is a combined obstacle course racing and trail running event held at Be Human - Middelwater Farm near Bloemfontein in the Free State. The venue is on the R30 Brandfort Road, approximately 30 km outside of Bloemfontein.
The event offers multiple distances and formats:
- 4 km Be Fun OCR: about 3-4 km cross-country, approximately 20 obstacles.
- 10 km Be Fast OCR: about 10 km cross-country, approximately 30 obstacles.
- Kids 2 km OCR: 2 km course, ages 6 and up; under 11s must be accompanied.
- 12 km Trail run: technical trails and jeep track, follows parts of the OCR route.
- 16 km Trail run: extended trail route through farm terrain.
- 8 km Trail run: shorter trail option on farm trails.
The OCR entries are open qualification and do not require national federation affiliation. The Open categories are not subject to competition rules, and participants may choose which obstacles to attempt.
Finishers receive a medal, a free beer and professional photos. Practical advice from the organiser includes bringing a towel and dry clothes, carrying cash for food and drinks, and wearing performance clothing and shoes used in training. Outside food and drink is discouraged for the event; the venue is pet friendly. Pre-entry is required for competitive categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
