About the race
Baby Shippey is a summer trail event on the Beaumont scouting property, tentatively scheduled for Sunday June 6, 2027. The field is limited to the first 150 runners. The event offers two trail distances and emphasizes rugged, technical terrain.
The courses run on primitive trails, gravel jeep roads, powerline and ATV paths. Runners encounter large rocks and boulders that may require using hands and feet to climb or descend, off-camber sections, steep ascents and descents, and a narrow switchback with loose gravel. The half course includes two powerline segments. The organizer’s description repeatedly notes the course will be physically demanding and rough underfoot.
Course details include:
- 13.05 mi approx 2390' with aid stations at 3 mi and 8.2 mi
- 6 mi approx 1100' with one aid station at 3 mi
Distances and elevation are approximate. The event description uses the phrase "This is B.S." to describe the race experience. Aid stations are present on both courses at the listed mile marks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
