Allithwaite 8 - The 10th edition
Allithwaite 8 is a trail race based at Allithwaite Community Centre, Quarry Lane, Allithwaite LA11 7QJ on the Cartmel peninsula at the edge of the Lake District. The course is approximately 8 miles / 13 km, combining trail, fell and quiet road sections. The route is well marked and marshalled.
Kit requirements include hat, gloves and full body cover or waterproofs; these requirements are confirmed at race registration. Off-road shoes are recommended. Minimum age on race day is 16 years; participants under 18 require parental consent. Entry fees listed for the event include Under 18 at £9.00 and Senior at £15.00.
A large part of the event proceeds supports the local school, community centre and other community projects. Entrants receive a special 10th edition item. Prizes are awarded for first to third open men and women, with cash and local food and drink, and additional prizes for veterans and U18s.
Facilities at race headquarters include toilets and refreshments. Water will be available at the finish; entrants are asked to bring a cup. Limited free car parking is available close to the venue and car sharing or alternative transport is encouraged. Dogs are not allowed on the course or in the community centre.
