About the race
The 3D Rotorua Multisport Festival is an annual multisport and trail event held over the King’s Birthday long weekend in Rotorua, with the next edition scheduled for Sunday 6 June 2027. Events centre on Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Whakarewarewa Forest, with the event hub and all transitions located at Blue Lake Reserve, Tarawera Road. The festival offers a range of paddle, mountain bike and trail run events for individuals and teams. It also serves as the New Zealand Secondary Schools Multisport Championships, with specific student categories and a principals’ attestation requirement for school teams.
Courses use flat-water lake paddling, purpose-built mountain bike tracks in Whakarewarewa Forest, and soft single-track trails around the lake through native bush, ferns and stands of Eucalyptus, Radiata Pine and Douglas Fir. Safety and equipment rules require flotation on paddle stages and safety approved cycle helmets for MTB stages. Paddle craft must be cleaned at the on-site facility to protect waterways. Provisional results are posted during the day and prizes and age-category awards are presented at an awards ceremony.
Branded event merchandise is available and a refund and transfer policy is published for withdrawals and cancellations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
