ACORN Duncan Macfarlane Race "The Dunky"

The ACORN Duncan Macfarlane Race "The Dunky" is scheduled for 25 October 2026 and is organised by Acorn Trails. The event is a two lap trail route totalling 7.5 km set within Mugdock Country Park, a location chosen for its connection to the race namesake and his clubmates.

The course passes two castles, a loch and a World War II anti-aircraft emplacement, and circles the water's edge through parkland that often features autumn leaf cover and, weather permitting, views across the Greater Glasgow area. The route is fully waymarked and marshalled, with qualified first aid cover, and finish line refreshments and a snack are provided.

Charitable donations are a feature of the event. A donation will be made to the Woodland Trust and to the Chris Smith Memorial Fund, with entrants offered the option to add to the donation during entry. Entries include a per entrant fee directed to East Dunbartonshire Council for park upkeep.

Additional event details include exclusive access to an overflow carpark for the first 70 cars, event specific buffs and t-shirts available for purchase at sign-up, and prize vouchers awarded in gender and age categories (1st £35, 2nd £25, 3rd £15). Results will be published on the Acorn Trails website. Total places for the event are 120. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
