The event takes place in Thunder Bay at 400 Lyon Boulevard West on the shores of Lake Superior. Courses use purpose-built mountain bike and recreation trails that traverse mesa rock formations and boreal forest.
Multiple race formats are offered for different ages and interests. Distances and formats include:
- Kids Tri 6-9: 50 m swim, 800 m mountain bike, 400 m trail run
- Kids Tri 10-12: 100 m swim, 2.4 km mountain bike, 800 m trail run
- Full Off-Road Triathlon
- Sprint Off-Road Triathlon
- Super Sprint Off-Road Triathlon
- Full Distance Duathlon
- Sprint Distance Duathlon
- Triathlon Relays Full and Sprint
- Half Marathon Trail Run (four laps)

- 5 km Trail Run
The event description notes 28 qualification spots to the XTERRA World Championships. The organizer publishes deferral policies for pregnancy, postpartum, adoption and gender affirming surgery; approved deferrals remove the original registration and provide a promo code to apply to the following year's event, with no refund of differences if the new fee is lower.
