XTERRA Sleeping Giant 2026
The event takes place in Thunder Bay, Ontario, at the head of Lake Superior. Courses use purpose built mountain bike and recreation trails carved through mesa rock formations and Boreal forest, reflecting a landscape shaped by ancient glaciers and historic shorelines.
A range of race formats and distances is offered for individual athletes and teams. Distances and formats include:
- Full Off-Road Triathlon
- Sprint Off-Road Triathlon
- Super Sprint Off-Road Triathlon
- Full Distance Duathlon
- Sprint Distance Duathlon
- Half Marathon Trail Run (four laps)
- 10 km Trail Run
- 5 km Trail Run
- Triathlon Relay Full and Sprint
- Pro Elite Full Distance entry
The duathlon replaces the swim with an approximately 3 km run and otherwise follows the same full course as the sprint off-road triathlon. The 10 km and 5 km trail runs use the same run course as the triathlon and duathlon. The half marathon is composed of four laps of the run course.
