Course and proceeds

The course covers fourteen kilometers of the Continental Divide Trail between Homestake and Pipestone passes in Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The route runs along finished sections of the CDT and passes areas with rock formations and open vistas. The event is scheduled near the Summer Solstice and commemorates a late local proponent of the trail.

Proceeds are donated to trail construction and maintenance in southwest Montana and to support local youth running programs. As of 12/31/2024 the race reported contributions of $18,954 for trail-related support, $3,475 for local emergency search and rescue, and $8,850 for youth running programs.
